Tenure-track Assistant Professor. We seek a candidate who specializes in literature and media technologies or cultures between 1800 and c. 1980, the epoch of modernization from the first industrial revolution to the onset of the current digital revolution. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on writing, reading, communicational, computational, visual, or sensory media in the period between early-modern technologies of writing and reading and contemporary digital technologies (two areas in which our department has strength).

The ideal candidate would be able to teach a range of courses in literature and media, as well as a literary historical field; contribute to the department's digital humanities and undergraduate specialization in Literature & Culture of Information, as well as intersect with the department's collaborative research and teaching initiatives (including the Transcriptions/Literature, Culture, and Media Center and the Transliteracies Project); and contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service. We invite applications from candidates who specialize in Renaissance drama, including Shakespeare, and who can also teach a range of courses in Renaissance literature. We especially welcome candidates who can intersect with our department's Early Modern Center and other collaborative research and teaching initiatives, and can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service. Temporary Lecturer Positions

The Department of English at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for temporary lecturer positions.  The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching and service.

The salary is based on UC’s salary scales and depends on qualifications. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in English or related field and have more than one year of teaching experience. Filing, typing, data entry, processing of general University accounting forms and on-line travel vouchers. Tracks and recharges xerox, telephone and mail. Collects and compiles information for reports.

Excellent typing skills. Microsoft Office Word, Excel. Able to multi-task. Detail oriented, excellent with both verbal and written communication skills.
